Apple’s Indian division recently met in-depth with Ministry of Finance personnel to discuss their ambitions for creating an iPhone manufacturing facility in India.
According to government sources, the conversations focused on the future of smartphone production in India and how India’s policies may be aligned to promote this endeavour.
According to a Finance Ministry official, the Apple team was optimistic about India’s potential for value addition. “A perspective shared during the meeting was that India, along with Vietnam and Cambodia, could emerge as the next prominent destinations for smartphone production,” the official noted.
