Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, has announced the formation of a new firm, CMF, with the goal of making excellent design more accessible. Nothing’s CMF will launch its first items later this year, including a smartwatch and earphones.

Nothing will continue to focus on innovation and luxury items, while the new brand will emphasize clean design and inexpensive pricing.

CEO Carl Pei stated in a Nothing Community Update posted on YouTube, “You know how Nothing’s vision is about making tech fun again?” Today, we took a significant step toward making that a reality. Different customers have different needs. So, today, we’re launching CMF by Nothing, a new product line that makes excellent design more affordable.”

What distinguishes CMF from Nothing?

Pei stated in his video message that Nothing and CMF by Nothing are distinct businesses with an emphasis on design and user experience. The Nothing CEO also stated that CMF will be managed by a separate team within Nothing to guarantee that the’main products’ are not distracted. Nothing, he continued, will focus on innovation, and the primary company will create ‘luxury’ items with the highest end components and the best performance, as well as the latest technology.

CMF by Nothing will focus on ‘clean and timeless design,’ and its goods will be reasonably priced so that more people can access the Nothing ecosystem. Pei also stated that CMF products will be of high quality, which will be difficult to locate in low-cost products.
