Karan Johar shared an amusing anecdote about Alia Bhatt and her two weddings in a week.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is flying high after a fantastic debut weekend. The Karan Johar-directed film, which has become a social media sensation, has grossed over Rs 70 crores and continues to awe audiences with its epic love tale, spectacular sets, and chartbuster music. To celebrate the success of their picture, Karan Johar and the producers hosted a lively press conference where he spoke candidly about the visual and emotional extravaganza that he created in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. Karan shared an amusing joke about Alia Bhatt and how she got married twice in a week at the occasion. Are you perplexed? We’ve got your back.
In an exclusive clip obtained by News18 Showsha, we see Karan Johar thanking everyone for their love and support for his comeback film after 7 years. Later in the video, Karan Johar alluded to the film’s final sequence, in which Rocky Randhawa (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia Bhatt) married. “Alia aur Ranbir ki shaadi hui thi aur chaar din baad we were shooting our sequence with Ranveer and Alia,” he recalled. So Alia Bhatt married twice in one week, once in real life and once on screen. And the mehndi worn by Alia Bhatt’s character in the scene is the same mehndi she used at her wedding festivities with Ranbir Kapoor. We simply darkened it.And we shot the song ‘Kudmayi’ in Jaisalmer, and Vaibhavi Merchant did an excellent job with the visuals.”
“However, when it came to the length of the song, everyone was of the opinion that it should be somewhere lower than 2:50 minutes,” he continued. That figure should not be exceeded. Then we had to squeeze it into a box with the rolling credits. As a filmmaker, it pained my heart that I couldn’t present the music in its entirety. But we’re releasing this music today for everyone to enjoy.”
The film received 3.5 stars from News18 Showsha, with a portion of the review reading, “All in all, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is a joyful and nostalgic ride.” It’s not Karan’s best work, but it comes off as a breath of new air. Once again, the filmmaker demonstrates that there is no one quite like him, and that when it comes to family sagas, he is the undisputed monarch. It’s time to start a petition to have ‘the Karan Johar genre of cinema’ officially coined.
Karan Johar makes his directorial debut after seven years with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. In addition to Alia and Ranveer, the film features legendary actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan, as well as Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly in crucial parts.
