Kareena Kapoor Khan makes a big streaming debut in Sujoy Ghosh’s mystery thriller Jaane Jaan, alongside Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat.
The first teaser for Kareena Kapoor Khan’s much anticipated streaming debut, Jaane Jaan, was released on Tuesday. Sujoy Ghosh directed the film, which is based on the blockbuster mystery novel The Devotion of Suspect X and stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma in supporting parts, and it will be released in three weeks. The work is also considered to have inspired the popular Malayalam film franchise Drishyam.
Kareena plays Maya D’Souza in the film, which is situated in the Kalimpong hill region. Maya appears to be in an abusive relationship, which her next-door neighbor Naren suspects. Jaideep plays Naren in the film, and the trailer depicts him as a creepy stalker. Vijay plays Karan, a cop who arrives in Kalimpong in search of Maya’s missing husband and establishes a romantic bond with her. Karan and Naren are old friends, so he asks Naren about his ‘hot padosi,’ who also happens to be the key suspect in his inquiry. While the original story was narrated through the eyes of a clinical mathematical teacher who assisted his neighbor in covering up her husband’s death, Jaane Jaan appears to have been re-contextualised through the eyes of the main female character, with the maths teacher ostensibly portraying the killer. However, this is not obvious.
