Kia Seltos facelift debuts in India 2023

The facelifted Seltos gets three engine options, including a new 1.5 turbo petrol; bookings begin on July 14.

Kia India has launched the Seltos facelift, which includes many new features as well as the reintroduction of the turbo-petrol engine. The booking period for the Seltos facelift will begin on July 14.

The Seltos was released in India in August 2019, and the midlife refresh comes almost four years later, though the SUV received a global facelift in 2022. Kia claims to have sold over 500,000 Seltos vehicles since their introduction.

Kia Seltos facelift exterior design

In comparison to the previous model, the Seltocs facelift gains a slightly wider bumper, body-colored inserts in the fog lamp housing, reworked headlights with new LED daytime running lamps that extend into the grille, and the four-block fog lamp design.

The Seltos facelift has 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, which were previously only available on the X Line level. The Seltos facelift includes new inverted L-shaped taillights (seen on many new Kia models) joined by an LED light bar at the back. Sequential turn indicators are also included on the Seltos, and the reverse light has been relocated from the taillight housing to the revised bumper. The SUV also gets a new tailgate design with fewer chrome accents than the previous generation.

The Seltos facelift also includes a new color, Pewter Olive, as well as eight existing solid colors and two dual-tone colors. Dual exhaust tips are standard on turbo-petrol trims, and the GT Line and X Line have a slightly different body package than the Tech Line trims.

The Seltos facelift now has a dual screen setup on the inside, with two 10.25-inch monitors, one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the touchscreen infotainment. The center console has also been updated, with slimmer AC vents and a revised HVAC and media panel. The interior of the X Line trim gets a new sage green color, while the GT Line variations get a new black and white theme.

The Seltos facelift includes a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch heads-up display, an automated parking brake, rain-sensing wipers, and a Bose-tuned 8-speaker system with sound mood lights. 17 ADAS functions, such as frontal collision warning assist, blind spot collision warning, and lane maintain assist, are included as safety features. It also comes standard with six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, ESC, and Hill Assist Control.

Kia Seltos facelift powertrains

The 115hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 116hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine remain under the hood of the Seltos facelift. The former has a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission, while the latter has a 6-speed iMT and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Kia has reintroduced a turbo-petrol engine with the Seltos facelift, replacing the earlier 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, which was retired in March 2023 due to failing to fulfill BS6 Phase 2 emissions standards. The new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 160 horsepower and 253 Newton-meters of torque, which is 20 horsepower and 11 Newton-meters more than the previous turbo-petrol engine. The new engine is paired with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the future Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross are also competitors for the Seltos facelift.
